Bye bye Eddy !

Eddy Wally was a flemish crooner. He died yesterday at the age of 83.

In this video recorded at Q-music studios, he sings one of his biggest hits "Chérie".

In this video of 2010, you can notice both major flemish singers together in love.

Enter Sanne Putseys's ears...

It has been actually the most interesting interview about Selah Sue I've listened to in a while.
Not only she gives titles of tunes or names of bands... but it also goes from childhood to today, which is quiet incredible. And so complete.
Dank U Radio Nova ! ♥

Give Fans a Voice : Special day for Kiara @ AB

Cela a marché !!!

The song that changed everything

There are some days, some moments that are some kind of magical.
Some moments where you can't explain what is just happening.
That you live something exceptional and only yourself realize.
That you could smile or seem happier and that people around you may see your face changes, but whatever.
So much the better for everyone.

Where yesterday, in front of my tabs booklet, I didn't know "what song to work on".
When my music teacher asked me, Destiny let me turn sheets of one by one.
And I fell on Raggamuffin (Sanne Putseys, 2010).
OK. To play this song, you must "be rhythmed" yourself and enjoy doing bar chords.
It is sure: it wasn't me when I asked him to study Raggamuffin.

"Oh yes, I know that song !", he said, and started to hum the song.
Then I started to do the first notes, and he did the following after he saw the right chords on my score.

"This is a song you even play it funky !".
OK, right. Play it funky. Do you know me, really ?
And he showed me.

It's a story of "ups and downs", of "ternary" thing, of doing it "5 times...
Of trying and doing it successfully, and glimpse things more than more in grey.

It was like Raggamuffin became one of my friends.
The chords didn't sound so perfectly but I did bars like I never did before.
It let enter inexplicable energy into my arms, body and mind, so much that I would have been ready to play like the whole Selah songbook !

Other artists songs came also and all these songs semt to come so well that I made a wish at this moment.
The wish that later I could be able to play like I did during this incredible discovery moment:
Raggamuffin still a bit seems to be one of my friends.

Thank you Thomas, thank you Selah (once more), and Merry Christmas to everyone who read this blog...

PS: After the lesson, Raggamuffin helped me also to become a perfect xylophonist for a jam session.

Amazing.

It's been just 2 years ago that this moment happened for the first time, and it just came in my mind while, randomly, I was just recalling this moment to a friend.

Rijsel. Concert done. We are three to wait near to the german bus. A girl, her mother maybe and me. My belgian car is not so far so that I have time to take things, ready to be signed. It is cold. Really colder than today, exactly 2 years later. Anyway I know that I won't wait in vain.
Some tens of minutes after the show, first people come from the opposite street with sound equipments to store into the bus. Some L'Aéronef people, some backliners. I friendly ask one of them, a little mustach man, if they waited for someone, as the bus doesn't start after a long time. This guy answers me that "anyway the bus will go directly there" so that I wouldn't have to expect anything... as he saw me waiting for almost 2 hours.

"No waste of time man! Et ouais", he says.

That night, this mustach man couldn't stop the progression of my Selah fan story yet.
Always that calm nighty ambiance... Some talking weirdo walking near to the bus. Même pas peur.

I know I don't have to leave this front of bus, while everyone else could gently go back to their car and home.

And suddenly, I see 2 or 3 people and a big-haired girl walking on the footbridge.
The concert is done since 2 hours and a half. She's walking very quietly to us, with a little bunch of people I don't know.
She's ready to enter the bus but "quickly", she takes the time to take pictures, signs and has a laugh with some flemish speaking buddies before getting on the bus.
Positive vibes that annihilate every negative one I could have found in front of this bus before.

I already was a fan of Selah Sue; that morning I kinda became a fan of Sanne Putseys too.

I used pixelahsition because I don't know if concerned people
would like that their picture to be broadcasted on the internet this way.

I miss Selah Sue.

Selahoutai

Tonight, Selah Sue gave a concert in Budapest, Hungary.
She told this afternoon that it was "(their) very last show".
OK.

But I can't believe this.
I can't believe that this show is dead.

I can't believe that this typical setlist [2010-2013] could die tonight.

And how long until I could take new pictures with the combo flower/hat/glasses on again ?

Will the second (real) batch of concerts give the same talented people on stage ?

Is it planned that the three bandeaux will be thrown to the fire ?

Will the fan be powered on again one day ?

If in 2013, Selah Sue has done new countries, done again lot of other ones, namely Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Hungary, Japan, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, and U.S.A., look attentively at this list of countries again.
I did it again and again. You'll realize like me that...

France doesn't take part of this list.

OK, the next album is coming, the demos to be recorded and to become your new babies.
But come on Sally.
Let me ask you "Selahoutai".

Then you would give me the answer that you decided to give a final 2013 gig in Rijsel, which would be a very nice choice.
A final meeting together for 2013.
Some acoustic, some oldies - some electronic, some new sounds.
The perfect transition...

Just before adulthood will take place for good.

How I survived a 14-day no-Selah Sue diet

It actually results from a period called "holidays", which takes you from home to another pleasant location which is supposed to change your mind, spend good times and let you take pretty pictures of what you live, camera helping to remember. It's supposed to and it did.

What about this diet ?
Because yes, you did read well: I did not listen to any Selah Sue song during 14 days... -I wish it doesn't sound like a Bill Clinton quote-.
While I introduce myself being someone that couldn't live without listening that music for two days in a row (I didn't quote myself because it's being big-head)...

Well. To try to start with an explication, I would say first that Selah Sue music is not really my partner's cup of tea: one of the hardest points to struggle with in my everyday life !
I try to find some tricks sometimes, with let sounding some covers (that she never heard before) where Selah's voice is less recognizable, or put some Adele song (that she likes) and then play a Selah one for that she could have a thought like "I finally don't dislike her voice so much".
Tries.
Again.
But it doesn't upset me. ;-)
So I couldn't stay hooked at my Selah Sue mp3 folder like I usually do.

He says "No Selah Sue", OMG

During these hours to drive and kilometers to do, I've decided to put radios.
Just because it changes habits, gives another ambiance, a summer one. French radios do it really good, with games, reports or other broadcasts. Good point for no Selah Sue in vakanties.
OMG, I said "no Selah Sue".

Of course, good habits are very difficult to lose and it was with great difficulties that I listened to Dutch or Flemish Belgian (worse still) people in camping talk to each other. At every moment I expected to hear Sanne Putseys voice to join the conversation (and start a song then)... but it was really undreamt of !
At the same time, this was reassuring me and made me think that somehow, it would come again. Someday.

I actually slightly lied. Because this great pain calmed itself down when on a corner in Quimper, the owner of a vintage shop became my dealer and came to give me my dose.

It happened at the middle of my stay. To choose, the best moment given to be able to hold out.
Visiting this -kitsch and tasty- retro shop, I was concerned with old LPs that became ashtrays, original vintage packagings from 60's to 70's, still fit old toys or some Paris Match copies with coronation of Queen Elisabeth pictures.

The unexpected happened.

A vintage soundscape as well. Rock'n'roll oldies, disco hits, among other things.
It happened when I was just about to leave that shop, that shop of a man who became my 1-minute dealer. I was hit by 5 bass vibrations in G. Then 4 other bass notes. E♭.

A reminiscence.
A liberation.

What comes next is only happiness coming through my veins.
A voice, a rhythm; obviously familiar.
My distress came to an end as my rescuer's playlist was injecting me This World...
Life could go on normally.

What else to say.

If I was about to forget Selah Sue -OMG he said "forget Selah Sue"-, randomness helped me being set again on the Straight Path.
Never, I say, never, I would forget that man with such fantastic music tastes who gave that energy to go on with believing.

When you think everything is against you, think about the power of life and above all, keep on believing in Others and Yourself...
It works as this is how I survived a 14-day no-Selah Sue diet.

Soon on this channel, "Meanwhile..."
